Anotace: This paper introduces the results and analysis of a questionnaire-survey among fiftytwo secondary school teachers of French as a foreign language (FFL) in the Czech

Republic, supplemented by the analysis of three semi-structured interviews with
certain respondents. The main question of the survey and of the interviews was
whether to use and explore authentic literary texts (ALT) in an FFL classroom and
if so, which texts might be interesting and suitable to support reading in a foreign
language among secondary-school students.
