Anotace: The EUNIS habitat classification is a comprehensive system covering the terrestrial and marine habitat types of the European land mass and its surrounding seas. The EUNIS habitat types are arranged in a hierarchy and Level 1 is the highest with 10 Level 1 categories. The underlying database and interface on the EUNIS website include text descriptions and environmental parameters, and also relationships with several other classifications and legislative systems. The EUNIS habitat classification, however, is distinct from Annex I of the EU Habitats Directive, and EUNIS has proven a most utilisable and widespread habitat database because of its hierarchical and structural complexity.
