Anotace: This study investigated the relationships between university Organizational Culture and middle level managers’ Contextual Performance in a Chinese public university, with Commitment as a mediating variable. It revealed that Organizational Culture had a significant impact on Commitment of employees. At the same time, Commitment impacted Contextual Performance positively. However, the study also highlighted that university Organizational Culture had no significant impact on Contextual Performance, contradicting many past studies on the impact of Organizational Culture on Performance. This could be due to the unique nature of Chinese public universities as top leadership is appointed by the central government. The study also suggested changing the governance structure of public universities to meet the rising demands for greater autonomy from academics and administrators. The data collected in this study was analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method with AMOS. The descriptive analysis of the research data was performed using SPSS.
