The paper deals with the characteristic of
the structural castings production. Structural
castings are characterized here. These are
dimensionally large, highly ar ticulated castings
that are especially used in the automotive
industr y (shock towers, pillars, cross members,
engine cradles, or inner door panels, etc).
The paper presents alloys and their chemical
composition. The alloy must contain a low
amount of iron. A list of alloys that have
been developed for the purpose of producing
structural castings is provided. At the same
time, the equipment and the size of the
pressure machine are impor tant for the
production of structural castings.
