Anotace:
This paper deals with the conjunctive of indirect speech verb form in German language media.
The forms of conjunctive I and II and their use are presented as well as the morphological and
lexical means used to indicate reported speech instead of or together with the conjunctive. All
these phenomena are demonstrated on examples. We also explore the possibilities of translating
a German conjunctive of indirect speech into Czech. In conclusion, the conjunctive of indirect
speech is a very productive grammatical category in the language of political news and the most
important means for indicating a reporting of another person’s opinion.
