Anotace: Plants are used for several purposes in different industries like pharmacy, food, cosmetic etc. Some of them like spices have antimicrobial and antioxidant properties due to their capacity to produce secondary metabolites. In recent decade, the emergence of novel diseases, epidemics, and even pandemics along with the ability of a large group of pathogens to adapt against available antibiotics have caused scientists to explore natural and new sources of antimicrobial agents. These natural antimicrobial compounds are broadly used to design innovative drugs, in particular for those pathogenic strains that have been resistant to existing antibiotics in market. This review represents some of the recent findings on the antimicrobial activities of medicinal herbs.
