The contribution shows the results of the
comparison of domestic andalusites used
in the manufacture of moulds and cores
with samples from South Africa and France
deposits. Fur ther on the proper ties of the
foundry base sand Kerphalite KF in comparison
with other commonly used base sands are
described. An example of the use of the base
sand Kerphalite KF in the foundr y including
possible dosing of the binder system, bending
strengths and the quality of resulting castings
is given.
