Anotace:
The paper deals with the electron beam welding
of high pressure die castings made of aluminium-
-silicon alloy. Influence of the casting sur face
cleanliness on the weld appearance, the weld
geometry and the coloured area in the vicinity
of the non-conforming weld were examined.
From the metallurgical point of view, the
influence of chemical composition of the
alloy, gas content, and purity were examined.
For eventual checking of the weldability of
castings, the relation between TIG welding
and electron beam welding was checked.
On the basis of the results of the analysis
of the coloured area of the weld, the effect
of the piston lubrication and mould spraying
is tested. The aim of the tests is to find out
the root causes of non-conforming welds.
