Anotace:
This article discusses borrowed words from foreign languages included in the French dictionaries.
The quantitative analysis is based on two corpora, each containing new borrowed words finding
their way into five successive editions (2015–2019) of the two dictionaries (Le Petit Larousse
and Le Petit Robert). In this article, an attempt has been made to discuss which languages
have influenced the French vocabulary (English, Japanese, Italian, Latin, Greek, Spanish
and Chinese) and which particular domains (new computer and communication technologies,
cooking and gastronomy, art) are involved. It follows from this analysis that Le Petit Robert has
incorporated in the period 2015–2019 more borrowed words (167) than Le Petit Larousse (97
