Specific applications of aluminium castings,
such as combustion engines pistons or
compressor pistons and especially top
castings of aircraft pistons, require specific
manufacturing approach. Raw material
with specific chemical composition and purity
is on the beginning and fur ther follow its
metallurgical treatment up to the casting
process, heat treatment and machining of
castings. This contribution shows the practise
of pistons production in the foundry ALMET,
a. s., that is specialized in complex production
of combustion engines pistons or compressors
