Anotace: The article “M. Jadis”. On the Centenary of the Birth of Antoine Blondin (1922-1991), discusses

the personality and work of the French writer, journalist and playwright who belonged
to young right-wing intellectuals after World War II, the so-called „hussars“ movement
rejecting existentialism and history in the name of the new classicism and literacy. Blondin
appears to be a dandy, a grate, but behind this rebellion against society lies shyness and
sadness. In his loosely tuned texts interwoven with autobiographical motifs such as alcoholism,
unhappy family conditions, submission to illusion or defiance, we often find subversion
and travesty. Besides other literary awards, Blondin won the Prix Goncourt for his collection
of short stories Quat’saisons in 1975. He is also famous for his sports reports, most often
from the cycling Tour de France.
