Anotace: Interlingual transfer in learning German as a second foreign language

This article discusses the importance of inter- and translingual transfer, which is currently strongly
emphasized in foreign language research, especially when acquiring the second or further
foreign language. The focus of our attention is the lingvistic-semantic and pragmatic-didactic
transfer between Slovak, English and German when acquiring German as a tertiary language,
as well as the role that students in the ninth grade of primary school in Slovakia ascribe to them.
The article presents the data obtained from the survey on the perception of the usefulness and
use of selected aspects of the transfer from the perspective of the students learning German
as a second foreign language in Slovakia. Finally, the recommendations for the practice of teaching
and learning German after English are presented.
