Anotace:
When comparing German and Czech parallel texts from the business press, their characteristic
stylistic differences are shown based on German syntactic condensation. Nominal parts
of sentences in German correspond to main and subordinated clauses in Czech, and elliptical
expressions correspond to whole sentences. In German, the implicit way of expression
is opposed to the explicit expression and many others in Czech. Based on the identified
differences, recommendations for educational practice are formulated.
