Anotace: During cyclic thermal stress of iron castings

to temperatures higher than approximately
600 °C the internal tensions, the repeated
elasto-plastic deformations, the gradual
disintegration of the perlite and the phase
transformation of structural components occur
due to the heterogeneity of the temperature
field. The result is the formation of cracks,
deep oxidation and thermal fatigue of the
casting material. Typical castings with this
kind of the service loading are the castings
of exhaust piping and the castings of turboblower
bodies. The increase of the resistance
of these castings against mechanical, thermal
and chemical influences is achieved by alloying
of cast irons with silicon, molybdenum or other
elements. Alloys marked as SiMo cast irons
move the working temperature range of
the given castings up to the values around
900 °C.
