Anotace: Reading and, particularly, literacy are an essential part of the basic education of a

modern person and to be well informed in today’s constantly and rapidly changing world and
in education is more than ever an essential factor for any individual wishing to assert themselves in society. It is necessary to seek ways of forming pre-reading skills and a positive attitude
towards reading for children from early childhood. One of the motivating factors might be the
reading development projects proposed by the author. Their use is suitable for children with
special educational needs (e.g. children with dyslexia), who very often dislike reading and do
it grudgingly. Their basic principle can easily be modifi ed for use in the family and in school/
preschool, and may very well take into account regional specifi cs (e.g. legends of the area).
